It was 2006. The world was ruled by Java. Multi-touch screens were on the cover of most tech magazines. Google hadn't broken into the mobile communications market and it was still a year before the unveiling of the first iPhone. Ten years ago, nobody would have believed that data traffic from mobile devices would explode the way that it has. In ten years, society has changed in ways we still have yet to comprehend.
So many things have happened in ten years. So many, indeed, that it's difficult to remember where we —a small group of passionate software developers— met and dreamt about a more connected world; a constantly moving world, in which the internet pervaded all aspects of our lives. Inspired by the idea of helping people create innovative, cutting-edge solutions, we decided to found a company that would enable us to turn our vision into reality. We named it Moove-it, as a premonition of what was to come.
We started small, providing consultancy services to local companies. During our first two years, Java and its related technologies helped us grow, learn about business, improve our processes and build a strong reputation in the local market.
But then, in 2008, something hit us —Ruby. Ruby, its philosophy —its ideology, even— changed Moove-it, forever. In Ruby, not just the language, itself, but also in the community that grew up around it, we found balanced construction and a strong commitment to high quality. We learned the importance of producing quality over quantity, the significance of building relationships based on mutual trust, the benefits of working with passion, the increased power of teams over individuals, and the crucial value of continuously seeking to improve ourselves.
In 2011, we were ready to take our next leap forward: developing solutions for tablets and smartphones. Building products that combine such an heterogeneous technological environment, in a world that increasingly demands rich user experiences, forced us to expand and diversify our skills. Now, we’re a team of over 50 people, comprising Java engineers, Ruby engineers, Front-End specialists, UX designers, UI designers and business analysts. And we’re still growing.
Moove-it has finally found itself, helping companies from different industries —from Finance to the IoT— helping people realize their dreams in an ever-changing world.
